Module 1 Farm Safety Signs

FARM SAFTEY

We learned about the Farm Safety Signs and completed our work sheets on this lesson.

There are seven categories of safety signs: mandatory, prohibition, warning, danger, fire, emergency information, and restriction.
  1. keep children out of work areas.
  2. have a fenced off safe play area in view of the home.
  3. have fencing with mesh right down to the ground - so that children cannot slip through gates and fences or climb over them.
  4. have easy to read danger signs and tell children what they mean.
    1. Tractor Overturn Accidents. Workers can become pinned underneath tractors and other heavy machinery when they overturn.
    2. Falls. Many jobs on the farm require workers to scale heights.
    3. Entanglements and Amputations.
    4. Suffocation. Burns.
    5. Toxic Exposure.
    6. Animal Injuries.
    7. Vehicle Accidents.

A few months ago we went on a walk to collect rubbish and we past a gate with farm safety signs we decided have a look at them. Then out of nowhere a horse came and gave us a bit of fright but then it gave us a neigh and walked away.
