Module 3 Quad Bikes

                                             Quad bikes  We learned about quad bikes and that what you have to were you have to were a helmet suit gloves boots glasses and long sleeved  high vis. We also learned about that you cant have anyone in the back of the atv you have to be over 16 years old, check ground make sure its clean, Wear safety equipment, check that your brakes work and inspect your vehicle and make sure you have a spar wheel in the back of the atv and make sure children under 16 aren't allowed on it and keep out of way.         

Module 3 Tractor Rules

Hello and welcome back to Farm safety. Today the Junior room learned tractor safety's .As much as we think farms are safe. Unforunatetly  they're actually not. The most accidents happen with tractors and machinery on farms so it's best if we  learn some rules. Rule no.1 Always wear a seatbelt. No.2 Don't  let children on the back of a quad no.3 Don't let a child in a operating tractor. No.4 Make sure your tractors tires are not flat.No.5 Make sure the tractor is in park mode before checking the tractor No.6You have to be seven to ride in a tractor 14 to ride the tractor on the farm.And 16 to be able to ride it on the road

Tractor checklist is a check you should do before you go on a tractor.                                                                                                        We are doing tractor work sheets and work about it.                                                        

Module 3 Tractor Blind Spots

The blind spots on the tractor are the side of the front wheels and at the back wheels. Never walk behind the tractor where the driver can't see you. If it is a bigger tractor sometimes the front of the tractor is blind spot too.    

Module 3 Machines Farmers Use

We learned about what machinery the farmers use     They use tractors, loaders, quads and harvesters. All machinery is dangerous. We always take care when visiting farms and never walk behind or in front of a moving machinery. We completed our worksheets.

Module 3- Webinar

                                        Tractor and machinery  We watched Webinar 3 online we Alma where we learned all about tractor and machinery safety.      The farmer harvests his or her crops with a machine called a combine harvester. The machine has large blades which are very dangerous. Trailer and loaders are two types of machinery the farmer uses for the transportation of animals and goods around the farm. We should never ride on the drawbar of a trailer or on the trailer or loader itself. The parts on a tractor are the head lights monster wheels, registration plate, beacon, mirrors exhaust, mud guard, step weight block and air vent.  We also learned about atvs  and that you should always were a helmet gloves suit and boots and carry anyone on the back of the atv. 

Module 2- Animal safety and care

We attended Webinar 2 on a Zoom call with Alma where we learnt all about Animal Safety and Care. In class we completed the worksheets and added them to our Farm Safety Scrap Books.                                        Always put a ring on the bulls nose to keep them calm.                                                                                                                Never go into a field by yourself when there is a bull in the field.         Never go near a baby calf when their mother is in the same in the same field or in the same shed.                                                                                             If you see a bull stamping his legs and his head is down you know he is angry.

Hairy Henry Visit

   Hairy Henry was a horse that came to our school he was from a care farm called hairy Henry they brought a sheep two donkeys a dog called Turnip , a horse , a bunny and a guinea pig. We brushed the donkeys the sheep and the horse.We made Turnip do some tricks like make him sit. The bunny was so soft and fluffy. The horse Henry was massive. He also went to the toilet at our school.His bladder was very full it took him two minutes to take a pee.
