Visit from Alma from AgriKids

Today we met Alma Jordan after watching her through  her wonderful webinars on the whiteboard Alma is from Agri kids and showed us a lot of signs some of them being: BEWARE of the bull, POISON, Do NOT enter, disinfect boots, deep water and electricity. She also talked about the different types of slurry. She also talked about the different types of machinery and animals like a cow, bull, pigs, chickens and horses.

Some of the machinery were balers, combine harvester, quadbikes and tractors like a New Holand. Some of the most important things in a tractor are the seatbelt and child seats. Think about it the tractor is six feet tall and you are average height is probably 5 feat so do not stand so close to the tractor if your a little child.
The age rules are.... U7 not permitted, 7+ permitted passengers if there is a seat and belt, 14 you are able to drive one around the farm, 16+ able to drive a tractor on the road. Our tractor checklist is check your engine, make sure the tractor can stop and go, mirrors have a clear view of everything and that there not broken or cracked, oil, make sure the lights work (front and back), diesel and coolant fuel, check the vent, wheels, tires , good grip and make sure the steps are clean.
We talked about the ATVS A= age   T= training  V= visual inspection   S= safety equipment (P.P.E). Last but not least the quad rules are helmet, glasses, long sleeved, hi-vis, long pants, proper shoes, gloves and one seat= one user. The poisonous gasses from slurry pit are hydrogen sulphide,CO2, methane and ammonia.
