Module 1 Senior Field Safety

    We watched Webinar 1 online and learnt all about Farm Safety With Alma. We learned about Field Safety and all the dangers of it. Never climb on  bales or hay. Never let the electrical door on the farm open. Never have more than 1 person on the quad at a time.   The blind spots of the tractor are at the front wheel and at the back wheel. Never walk behind the tractor when the driver doesn't know you are there. 

Module 1 Senior Electricity Safety

We had fun learning about Electrical safety in Module 1. We did a Multiple Choice Quiz about it.  Here are some facts we learned from our quiz.                                In the quiz,  we had a choice between a b or c and  the question was when should you never touch a plug the answer was when you have wet hands question, We learned that an electric shock can stop your heart from beating.  The quiz was so much fun doing the program and doing all the paper work and people coming to our school to talk about farm safety.   

Module 1 Senior Farm Zones The slurry Pit

We made Slurry Pit Safety Posters We learned about the slurry pit and the dangers of it. A fact to know: if you are opening the slurry pit leave it and go home for 30 minutes to let the fumes go out. The poisonous gases from the slurry pit are: hydrogen sulphide, CO2, methane and ammonia.    I drew a labeled diagram of the slurry pit.                                                  We also learned that never to be on your phone when around a slurry pit.

 We have learned all about farm safety  because we all live in the country side. It is very important  we all know the safety signs because most of us lives on farm  or near farms. We did loads of research on farm safety.                                                                                    This is Jacob and all the farm safety signs!                                                         

Module 1- Electricity Safety

We learned about Electricity Safety            We learned about overhead wires and the dangers about it. In the picture there was a kite flying too close to the wire. Also when you are driving a tractor always look out for overhead wires. 

Module 1- The Slurry Pit

Here is a pupil in 3rd class learning about slurry safety. We discussed the warning signs and how they should be on the blog. We learned that you have to wait 30 minutes so the gas is gone. We made a slurry pit rap.  This is very important to know when living on farms and visiting farms.  

Module 1- The Shed

We did a farm safety program and we learnt about the signs and sheds. The signs are beware of the bull. Caution slippy. We did  spot the dangers in the shed and be  careful around the bales .We also did our workbook.                                                 We learnt about the zones and shed  safety.                                                We all enjoyed learning  about farm safety.  

Module 1 Farm Safety Signs

FARM SAFTEY We learned about the Farm Safety Signs and completed our work sheets on this lesson.  There are seven categories of safety signs:  mandatory, prohibition, warning, danger, fire, emergency information, and restriction .         keep children out of work areas. have a fenced off safe play area in view of the home. have fencing with mesh right down to the ground - so that children cannot slip through gates and fences or climb over them. have easy to read danger signs and tell children what they mean.                                                                                                                                              Tractor Overturn Accidents. Workers can become pinned underneath tractors and other heavy machinery when they overturn.  Falls. Many jobs on the farm require workers to scale heights. Entanglements and Amputations.  Suffocation. Burns. Toxic Exposure. Animal Injuries. Vehicle Accidents.

Farm Safety Visit Checklist We started doing farm Safety as we know farms are not the safest place to be. It could save your life to know the dangers of the farm. In module 1 you will learn alot today I'm going to be covering the farm safety checklist. The farm checklist is super important.The following questions are asked when checking your checklist.In the picture above the class was asked the question"Is the farm going to be busy the day you are planning to visit?" Then they coloured a picture of a tractor smiling indicating that the farm was busy.
